It appears Russia are happy to assist should the government of Iraq request it but nothing seems to be set in stone and probably requires further discussions before confirmation by an official announcement.
If Russia goes ahead with any request from the Iraqi government, it will be interesting to see the US response given Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Gen. Joseph Dunfords comments according to CBS News in October: “I said it would make it very difficult for us to be able to provide the kind of support you need if the Russians were here conducting operations as well, we can’t conduct operations if the Russians were operating in Iraq right now.”
