140 guests and 30 employees allegedly held in Radisson Hotel, Mali

A hostage situation appears to be underway in the luxury Radisson Blu hotel in Bamako, Mali after alleged gunmen took control.

According to China Xinhua News, a video allegedly taken on a mobile phone by a Chinese tourist has been posted on their twitter account.

China Xinhua News have also issued emergency contact information including Embassy consular protection.

UPDATE:

Gunmen have allegedly released some hostages able to recite verses from the Koran. French soldiers are thought to be held hostage (unclear if they were on or off duty) along with Turkish, Chinese, US, French and Belgian citizens.

Police and security services have stormed at least part of the hotel, releasing approximately 50 hostages according to reports.

UPDATE (21 Nov 2015):

19 people reportedly died in the attack and two gunmen belonging to the group al Mourabitoun led by Mokhtar Belmoktar were also killed.

Three assailants are thought to have escaped according to local reports and the Malian military is currently trying to track them down.

According to the Maliweb.net article below, the Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has called for increased vigilance against the threat of terrorism and reports appear to differ still regarding the final death toll.
