Western deemed moderate groups allied with Jabhat al Nusrah and Jaish al Fateh on Sharia Law advertisements, Idlib province, Syria

Western deemed moderate opposition groups allegedly shared an advertisement campaign earlier this year with fundamentalist Islamic opposition groups such as Jabhat al Nusrah and Jaish al Fateh (Army of Conquest) in Idlib province, Syria. The advertisement text seen in the two images below translates as:

‘It’s not important who rules. What’s important is that it’s ruled by Sharia’

Group logo’s shown on the side of the lorry from left to right are as follows:

  • Nour al Din al Zenki Movement / Harakat Nour al Din al Zenki (Western deemed moderate)
  • FSA group / possibly 5th Corps (Western deemed moderate)
  • Army of Holy Warriors / Jaish al Mujahideen (Western deemed moderate)
  • Ahrar al Sham (Fundamentalist Islamic group)
  • Jabhat al Nusrah (Western deemed terrorist organisation)
  • Unkown
  • Army of Islam / Jaish al Islam (Fundamentalist Islamic group)
  • Jabhat Ansar al Din (Western deemed terrorist organisation)
  • Supporters of the Levant / Ansar al Sham (Fundamentalist Islamic group)
  • Sham Legion (Fundamentalist Islamic group)

FSA and Nusrah 1

Group logo’s shown on the advertisement board from left to right are as follows:

  • 16 Division (Western deemed moderate)
  • Nour al Din al Zenki Movement / Harakat Nour al Din al Zenki (Western deemed moderate)
  • Ahrar al Sham (Fundamentalist Islamic group)
  • Jabhat al Nusrah (Fundamentalist Islamic group & Western deemed terrorist organisation)
  • Sham Legion (Fundamentalist Islamic group)
  • Army of Islam / Jaish al Islam (Fundamentalist Islamic group)
  • Revolutionaries of al Sham Brigades / Kata’eb Thuwar al Sham (Western deemed moderate)

This highlights the contradiction between reality on the ground in Syria and the narratives used by Western politicians and main stream news outlets to justify their support of opposition groups.

Opposition groups deemed moderate are supported by Western countries to allegedly help create a Western style democratic, free Syria. The reality is that many Sunni opposition groups are fighting for the creation of an Islamic Emirate governed under Sharia Law, including groups supported by Western countries.

Examples of this include close co-operation on the battlefield or ideological aims advertised between Western deemed moderate groups and fundamentalist Islamic groups including Western deemed terrorist organisations as seen in this post.
